Bejeweled

Bejeweled for iOS

I first encountered Bejeweled on a resistive-screen PocketPC machine about a decade ago, and I can tell you, Bejeweled on the capacitive screen of any iOS device is certainly a joy to play.

Bejeweled now comes with four additional new incredibly exciting game modes. With a light touch and swipe, you could move jewels to their desired location without missing a beat!

“Bejeweled now comes with four additional new incredibly exciting game modes.”

Bejeweled began its life as Diamond Mine, a Flash game invented in 2000, and has since made its way from PC to Mac, the Xbox, PocketPC, iOS Devices and other mobile platforms, as well as Facebook.

Its popularity can be compared to Tetris, and is one of the biggest selling videogames of all time with sales exceeding 50 million copies.

Now, better than ever before, Bejeweled comes with 4 additional new levels on top of its Classic mode – Diamond Mine, Zen, Save The Butterflies, and Create 4 Special Gems. These add more variety to an already top selling game.

“…if you can’t spot the match, the Hint button is still there at your disposal, though with a slight penalty. There is no free lunch, not even in Bejeweled.”

At the easiest Classic game mode, you will be greeted with the Bejeweled that we are all familiar with, only this time with some powerful new gems.

In the Diamond Mine mode, the aim is to blast gems to collect gold, diamonds and other buried treasure and artifacts before time is up and the clock runs out.

In the new Zen game mode, gameplay becomes more relaxing with sights and sounds which you can customise to your own liking and preference.

In Save The Butterflies game mode, you are required to match gems to free butterflies before they reach the top where a hungry spider sits, waiting to devour them.

And lastly, in Create 4 Special Gems game mode, you are given the opportunity to create 4 electrifying gem types known as Flame Gems, Star Gems, Hypercubes and Supernova Gems for a genuine blast of a time!

And that is not all. Prove your abilities in gem-matching prowess by earning over 30 flashy achievement badges, something which works as a benchmark which you can compare amongst your gem-matching buddies.

Statistics are available, presenting scores for total matched gems, all-time best moves, and top 10 personal bests in Classic and Diamond Mine game modes. Of course, if you can’t spot the match, the Hint button is still there at your disposal, though with a slight penalty. There is no free lunch, not even in Bejeweled.

Bejeweled now comes with awesome Retina display graphics, which is optimised on the iPhone 4 and iPad 3 platforms and beyond. Bejeweled is now optimised for the iPhone 5, requiring iOS 5.1.1 or later. It is compatible across all iOS devices, including the iPod touch.
